Toolkit

Introduction to the Toolkit

The CEPA Lab Toolkit is a simple, affordable, and effective citizen science tool designed for monitoring wetland water quality. While it may not be as precise as laboratory equipment, it is ideal for continuous, field-based monitoring and for educational purposes—empowering communities to become environmental stewards.

This toolkit measures the following key parameters

pH (Acidity or alkalinity of water)
Electrical Conductivity (EC) (Indicator of dissolved salts)
Ammonia (NH₃)
Phosphate (PO₄³⁻)
Nitrate (NO₃⁻)

The toolkit includes a mix of digital probes and colorimetric test kits, allowing users to visually compare colors with standard charts to estimate chemical concentrations.

What’s Included in the Toolkit?

The standard CEPA Lab Toolkit includes

Digital pH meter

Digital TDS/EC meter

Colorimetric test kits for Ammonia, Nitrate, and Phosphate

Syringe for measurement

Glass test tubes and sample containers

Color charts for comparing test results

Plastic scoops and stirrers for mixing reagents

Additional items you’ll need

Rubber gloves

Clean water for rinsing

A basket with a rope for collecting water samples

A mobile phone with a GPS location app

(Optional) Printed CEPA Lab Data Sheet
